In the back of the student manual there are ten hymn lyrics to songs such as, Be Thou My Vision, Man of Sorrows, For the Beauty of the Earth, Praise to the Lord the Almighty, Come Thou Fount, I Sing the Mighty Power of God, How Firm a Foundation, The King of Love My Shepherd Is, Immortal Invisible God Only Wise, and Joy to the World.

And a scripture memory tracking sheet for keeping dates of when the student memorized a specific scripture.

TEACHER MANUAL

Contains teaching material for all thirty-five lessons broken down into prompts for the teacher to read and discuss. Objectives of what the student will be learning, extra scriptures references if needed to help explain a concept further, and character trait activities for engaging practical application.

Suggested weekly schedules options include: five-day, four-day, three-day which can be modified to fit any students routine.

Brief weekly one-page quizzes engage the students comprehension of concepts learned. This is a great way to monitor whether or not your student had a full understanding of the material or if a topic needs reinforcement.

Optional Components are Music Curriculum, Extra Resources and K4-6 Curriculum Sequence.

~As a home educator adding a Bible curriculum could seem overwhelming, as the core subjects consume most of my students time. I was pleasantly surprised to find 4th Grade – Building Life Castles to be a simple way to explore Biblical truths without much effort.

My student is eager to engage in each lesson, is learning to navigate the books of the Bible, is practicing her reading skills with Biblical vocabulary, using her comprehension skills to recall knowledge learned with quizzes, and is training her mind to memorize weekly scriptures.

Looking for a straight forward math curriculum then may I suggest ThemeVille Math Grade 1.  Simplifying mathematics with a daily routine of lessons and reviews builds confidence for students of all ages.

Favorite Homeschool Curriculum

Mathematics is an essential building block for everything we do in our daily lives.  Students need to have a solid foundation throughout their grade level years before achieving a higher standard in university.  Mastering Essential Math Skills Book 2 Middle Grades/High School produced by Math Essentials is a fantastic resource for developing mathematical confidence. 

Homeschooling Is Not Isolating

A choice was made to home educate because of worldview, flexibility and tailor-made educational values.  With that being said a pandemic has disrupted the lives of millions around the world, including those inside the walls of this home.  Anything these days is far from normal, and homeschooling has certainly taken on a whole new meaning.

I can assure you in the midst of trying to keep a routine this is NOT homeschooling at its best.  Even on the worst of days the weight of the world truthfully holds our emotionally isolated life! 

Disconnected Kids, Struggling Learners and Brain Balance Part 3

Reality says if you home educate then one of your students may be a struggling learner.  Developmentally it takes them twice as long to grasp a concept, comprehension is difficult and the interconnection of reading, writing and spelling is hindered.

Brain balance plays a huge role in how a child learns and without it their education suffers tremendously.

Overwhelmed At Homeschooling? Read This

Ever have one of those days when NOTHING seems to go as planned?  Students are focused on everything BUT their actual school work.  Toddlers are incessantly curious AND troublesome.  Not to mention the inside of the house could end up on the condemned list.

Yes, this is REAL LIFE with home education in the midst of it! 

And Mom who is wife, teacher, cook, chauffeur, librarian, housekeeper with endless laundry, gardener, mathematician, historian, seamstress, entertainer, and field trip organizer has a plate overflowing with responsibilities, not enough hours in the day and to-do lists the size of Santa’s naughty/nice checklist!     

Educational Rewards For Homeschoolers

Some children are naturally bent to enjoy all things academic, except for my three homeschooling kids!  When a choice was made to educate at home, life became very rote for my students who were not challenged by outside influences.  After seven years of home education, a reward system of some kind, had to be in place.  Here is a strategy I developed to help motivate my reluctant learners, while appealing to a job well done.
