Why Do Some Children Struggle To Read?

  1. Poor Eye Control
  2. Poor Phonological Awareness

Learning to read is a process in which both eyes work together to focus on the same point, and then track across the page.  If the eyes are out of sync from each other, the results are the brain works twice as hard trying to focus and decipher what they are seeing.

98% of struggling readers have difficulty focusing both eyes and tracking across the page.

Screen Shot 2019-06-29 at 7.33.41 PMMy third grade student focused on the Engaging Eyes Program and the Fluency Builder.  And I was pleasantly surprised to see her reading score increase from May to June.  She has struggled slightly with her reading, and this has been a great program for her to work through.

We began with the Engaging Eyes program and then continued on to the Fluency Builder games, for a total length of time of ten to fifteen minutes, 4-5x’s a week.

My student was a little uncomfortable wearing the 3D glasses, and she said her eyes felt weird after wearing them, mostly from focusing on the target practice games.  After a few days she did get used to wearing them.

My student enjoyed using this program and it became a highlight in her day.  I would highly recommend these programs, as they may just be a good fit for your family.
